YOU NEED A MENTOR

Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.” (Hebrews 13:17)

Beloved, do you remember John the Baptist?. He was the one that went about baptizing in the wilderness, preparing the way for the Lord. One day, he lifted up his eyes and saw Jesus in the crowd, and he said, behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sins of the world. John was the one that pointed Jesus out at His baptism. In the natural, you would have wondered why Jesus, the Son of God, needed man to announce Him. Jesus could have come to the world and started the miracles and people would have still gravitated toward Him. But He knew that as long as you are in the world, certain laws must govern your action. That was why He was bold to ask the religious rulers: the baptism of John, is it from God or man (Matt. 21:25), because John at baptism announced Him.

Don’t go around like a headless chicken, submissive to no one. No matter how anointed you are, God expects you to have an authority over you. If Jesus could submit Himself to authority, how much more you.

Jesus did not begin his ministry without submitting to somebody. He needed John’s endorsement to step into ministry. John said to Jesus, baptize me. But Jesus said to him, no you are the one to baptize me. Jesus was saying I know protocols and the protocol is that you are the one on board now. And so He submitted himself to John. This is not only in Ministry, the same applies in the family and in business. God is a God of order and expects all things to be done decently and in order.

You cannot rebuke the devil if you don’t follow protocol. The devil understands protocol. Remember what happened to the sons of Sceva. When anyone comes to challenge him, he says, Jesus I know, Paul I know, Brother Mike I know, but who are you?
