YOU ARE IN THE ARENA OF MERCY
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” 1 Peter 1:3 (KJV)
Today’s scriptural text is telling us what we have received in Christ. It says God is dealing with you in the arena of mercy. Mercy means God not giving you the judgment that you deserve. All of us deserve to be sent to hell but God said: ‘No I won’t send you to hell”. Instead, He decided to deal with us by grace to give us what we don’t deserve. So, every time you see mercy, grace is always around. And every time you see grace, mercy is always around. They work together.
We are begotten unto a lively hope. That speaks of confident expectation of something because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. No believer has business expecting anything evil concerning his life when Jesus has already died and has been resurrected. You have been called to new hope and an inheritance that is incorruptible and undefiled. It cannot be destroyed! It doesn’t fade away and it is reserved in heaven for you.
Rejoice in the hope you have because whatever challenge you are encountering now is just for a season. It is not going to last. You will see the end of that problem.
The book of 1 Peter 1:9 says, “Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls”. In other words, it is going to be all right. All is well, no matter what. Our end is already determined. The goodness of God on our behalf has already been packaged in Christ. The prophets spoke about it, but they did not see it. They prophesied about the undeserved, unearned, and unmerited favour that will come unto us which even the angels didn’t see.
Child of God, the enemy has no power to nullify what is already yours. Therefore, gird the loins of your mind. Don’t let your circumstance shift your faith. Have confident expectations to the end.
