YOU ARE CALLED TO SERVE

YOU ARE CALLED TO SERVE

“Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be
your servant. And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. For even the Son of
Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Mark 10:43-45 (NKJV)

So many people in the church today are in church for what they can get. They tell you they are
serving God. But in reality, they are using God for their benefit. Some are asking so many
questions. What am I going to get out of it? What am I going to get out of this machine we are
piloting? If I can’t get anything out of it, I bail out. If I suffer a little bit of discomfort, then I
won’t get involved. These types of people are concerned about who is the greatest. To them, it
is about what they can get. You need to ask yourself, why are you serving God? What is your
motivation for serving God? Why do you go to church? What is your interest?
Until your Christianity goes beyond what is in it for you, you have not started. Until your faith
in Christ goes beyond what is in it for you, you are still joking and you are still in the paediatrics
of Christianity. Jesus taught His disciples that Christianity is about service. It is about serving
others and not about being served. You are not looking for who to lord it over. People get
offended when there is a transition probably because of the positions they occupy. They feel
threatened when changes are taking place. They get offended whenever little adjustments are
being made. You will be shocked, at how many are leaving the church because of this. When I
see such unpalatable situations, I know that such a person is not there for service. He is in
church for what is in it for him.
