WHY DO YOU SEEK GOD?
“Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.” John 6:27 (KJV)
One important question that every believer must answer is, what is the reason why we worship God? This question is even more important in this season when things are going overboard and we are seeing unprecedented chaos and complications. There is a need to realize this even at this time so that we can be in the company of those that will possess their possessions, recover everything they have lost, that will be elevated, and will share in His glory in these last days.
Matthew 20:20-23 says “then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him. And he said unto her, what wilt thou? She saith unto him, grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. But Jesus answered and said ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto Him, we are able”. You notice that their desire was to be seated at their left and right. They were more interested in the position. They didn’t come to him to worship him. They did not come for who he was.
In another account in John 6:24-26, the scripture says when the people, therefore, saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus. Jesus told them in that scripture, you seek me, not because you saw the miracles, but because you did eat loaves and were filled, you are more interested in the material blessings. Then Jesus told them that they should rather be passionate for that which endures unto everlasting life. When you are intimate with God, other things will fall into place. The reason for your struggle all these years is because you have not sought intimacy with God and God is giving you another opportunity to change things and to make fresh alignments.
