WHO DO YOU HANG OUT WITH?
“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise, but a companion of fools shall be destroyed”. Proverbs 13:20 (KJV)
Beloved, you can love everybody, but every person cannot be your friend. I love people but I choose my friends wisely. If you notice that the place you have been hanging around, is influencing you badly; wisdom demands that you leave the place. You cannot be sitting around nasty people; people who are always running you down and teaching you how to do the wrong things and still say you want to actualize the purpose of God.
The book of Psalms 1:1-3 says; “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruits in his season. His leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper”. The reason the thing he is doing is prospering is that he is choosing the type of friends to hang around. I won’t hang around you if you are going to teach me how to lust, how to fornicate, how to commit adultery or do drugs.
God had to call Abraham out from where he was for him to actualize his purpose. We learned from the book of Genesis 24:1-2 that when Abraham was old and well stricken in age, the Lord had blessed him in all things. In the book of Genesis 24:35, Abraham’s servant said: “And the Lord hath blessed my master greatly, and he has become great, and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.” Now he has become a billionaire. When all those things are translated into today’s currencies, you know it is real money. Can you imagine if Abraham was still in his idol-worshipping background?
You will fulfill God’s purpose for your life!
