WHAT YOU HEAR DETERMINES WHERE YOU GO
“When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.” Mark 5: 27 (KJV)
On Jesus’ way to Jairus’s house to heal his daughter, there was a delay caused by a woman who had a blood issue for twelve years. And the Bible was careful to tell us that she suffered many things from many physicians. This woman was a very rich woman and she had the best of medical attention but every medical attention given to her escalated the situation. Her situation got worse and she was left for dead. Everyone had given up hope on her.
But the Bible says in Mark 5: 27 that: “When she heard of Jesus…” I want you to understand that what you hear determines where you go. That is why you don’t open your ear as a garbage ground for everything. The world is filled with bad news and like it or not, bad news spread like wildfire. In fact, journalists will tell you that bad news sells more than good news. At times journalists magnify or amplify bad news so that everyone will desire to read it. So the newspapers, the television channels, the billboards and virtually everything you see is telling you how it cannot happen or how things have gone haywire.
The question now is how are we going to survive or make it in these challenging times? The answer is that you must watch what you hear because faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Fear also comes when you listen to what the devil is saying or what the world is saying. The believer does not walk by sight but by faith. If there is anytime we should walk by what God is saying, it is now. If you didn’t see it in the word of God, throw it into the garbage can. We are new creations! Old things have passed away and all things have become new. Though we are in the world, we are not of the world. We are from heaven! We are not governed by the economy of this world. Learn to sit at the feet of the Master and receive words from His mouth that will build your faith and there is nothing that you desire to do that will elude you.
