WHAT HAVE YOU DEPOSITED IN YOUR HEART?
“generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.” Matthew 12: 34-35 KJV
In this passage of the scriptures, what Jesus is telling us is that we speak out of the abundance of our hearts. A good man speaks out of the good treasure of his heart. The word “treasure” talks about wealth or riches stored or accumulated. Treasure means rich material or valuable things. Treasure also means anything greatly valued or prized. It means to retain carefully or keep in store as in the mind. It means to regard or treat as precious or to put away for security or future use, just like money.
So, the treasure Jesus is talking about is the gems, the capital, fortune, gold, or wealth that you have stored within you. “A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things and an evil man, out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things”. Now my question is: What is in your heart? What have you deposited in your heart? What have you fed your heart with? You see that statement of Jesus is huge. It tells you the mechanics that ensure that you become successful in life. It is you that will bring forth what is inside you.
So, what are you bringing forth? Whatever you are bringing forth is a product of what you have put inside you. Jesus declares in the book of Matthew 4:4: “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (KJV). Man shall not leave by hamburger and chicken alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.
What is in your heart? What is feeding your heart? What are you feeding on? This hour we are living in is not the hour to feed on just anything. This is the time to feed on something that can never fail and that does not have a margin for failure. And I can assure you that the only thing that does not have a margin for failure is, the Word of God.
