WATCH YOUR WORDS
“For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words, thou shalt be condemned.” Matthew 12:37 (KJV)
One of the things every believer must watch is the use of his tongue. The tongue, the Bible says is a very small part of the body, but it can set the whole house on fire. Words are very powerful, they are like eggs, once broken, it cannot be put back in the shell or like water, once poured out cannot be gathered back into the bottle. Words are so strong, they can make or mar a man. Words can deflate the most powerful man and words can uplift the weakest man.
Our scripture for today says it well: “…By thy words, thou shalt be justified, and by thy words, thou shalt be condemned. Words are so powerful; I like the way The Living Bible puts that same scripture. It says: “Your words now reflect your fate then: either you will be justified by them or you will be condemned.” No one determines your fate but your words.
Many times, people use idle words and think that it does not matter. Have you forgotten that we are spirit beings and our words shape the world? Have you forgotten that words can make or mar you? Words. They can add colour to you or bring you down. As a leader, you must watch your words.
What do you say about your spouse? What do you say about your children? What do you say about your church, workplace etc.? Do you know you can have what you say? That is the scripture; Jesus said if you believe it, you can have it. ‘But Bro. Mike, it is a joke;’ you might be joking but do you know that even those words lightly spoken are so powerful? The more you utter the negative, the more you believe it and the more it sinks into your spirit. Faith comes by hearing; do you know that you are the first beneficiary of what you say?
From today, decide that your words will be seasoned with salt and will be a blessing to the hearers.
