UNDERSTANDING THE LOVE OF GOD

UNDERSTANDING THE LOVE OF GOD

“He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” 1 John 4:8 (KJV)

Welcome to the start of a new month. February is the month that many take out time to express love to one another. The question is: do you understand true love? Love is a very common word. Everyone talks about love, but how many truly understand love?

God does not have love as one of His qualities, but His very essence is love. It is therefore impossible to experience true love outside of God. Many have equated feelings with love. So, when you are around someone of the opposite gender and you feel goose pimples all over you, you say, you are in love. Is that love? When there are no more goose pimples, then the love is faded; right? I am sure you are already amused too. Love is more that goose pimples. Love is more than a feeling. Love is a person; God is love.

When you understand this, you will go beyond feeling. Love is not feeling-based. Yes, you can get attracted to someone, and yes, you can be infatuated, but to truly love, you must be in God because God is love. As we start this month, take a quality decision to get to know the love of God more. Get into God by getting into His word. The more of God you know, the more love you are capable of exhibiting. If everyone takes a quality decision to get closer to God this month and radiate His love, our world will be a better place, homes will be healed; relationships between couples will be better, siblings will learn to love each other more and the world as a whole will be better for it.

This month, make it a target to radiate the love of God everywhere you go by simply being a channel through which God can touch the world, for God is love.
