THE PROPHECY MUST BE FULFILLED
“Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us”. Matthew 1:22-23 (KJV)
Every time we get to this season, we are all taken over by the euphoria of the season. All over the world, there is excitement in the air as Christmas is celebrated. The Christmas decorations are breathtaking. Every year, there is an improvement from the previous year. People travel to see some of these decorations. Even the weather changes to herald this huge celebration. But today, I want to draw your attention to something about Christmas; it is a fulfillment of prophecy.
God in Isaiah 7:14 had spoken ahead of time that a virgin will conceive. I am sure all those who heard those words would have laughed at the Prophet Isaiah to scorn saying how can it be. Imagine how foolish it sounds to the natural man. How can a virgin – one who has never slept with a man, conceive? It defies the law of nature. Nothing like that has ever happened before. Yes, God parted the Red Sea for them to pass, that looks like a child’s play to a virgin bringing forth a child. But today, with the benefit of the Bible, we can read about the fulfillment of that seemingly impossible word.
Even Mary, the vessel through whom He came had to ask: how can this be? Where will the seed come from? But she was quick to catch herself and say: be it unto me, according to Your word.
What has the Lord spoken about you? What word have you held on to over the years and it looks like the more you believe, the more impossible it looks? I have come to challenge you never to give up. Every single thing God has spoken concerning you will come to pass. It may look impossible, it may look like a dream, hold on to it. Be like Mary and declare over your life “be it unto me according to Your word”.
