THE POWER OF YOUR COMMITMENT

And again they wept together, and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law good-bye. But Ruth clung tightly to Naomi.” (Ruth 1:14 NLT)

The Bible tells us that Ruth and Orpah were both married into the same family. The two of them faced the same pressure. Both were widows. And their mother-in-law Naomi, said to them, you both have been good to me but see what fate has done with me, you have tried enough, simply go back because my case is hopeless (my paraphrase). Orpah’s faith failed and she went back and that was the last we heard of her. May your name never be wiped out of the book of destiny. Ruth said to Naomi, yes you may not have any husband to give to me, and the future looks bleak because you have left home for long. However, you have introduced me to the God of Israel and now I am committed. Where you go, I will go. Where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people. Your God, the Almighty God shall be my God. Where you die, there I will die. Don’t persuade me, my mind is made up. My heart is fixed.

There are two groups of people in the church today, the barrier breakers and those that easily give up. A whole book was dedicated to Ruth, a descendant of a people who were not supposed to stand in the congregation of the saints, but she was a barrier breaker. The key to being a barrier breaker is commitment. In other words, no one can talk you out of waiting on God. Even if your faith is failing and you cannot explain what is going on, you are still committed. It was commitment that moved Ruth from the position of a gentile into royalty. In Mathew 1:5 Ruth was mentioned in the lineage of royalty.

Decide today, that you will be different. That is how to be a barrier breaker. The devil will put barriers on your pathway, I can guaranty you, he will leave you alone when you have done all to stand and you are standing. When you let him know that if anyone is to quit, it is the devil that will quit.
