STRIVE TO MAKE AN IMPACT
“But I have prayed for thee; that thy faith fails not; and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.” Luke 22:32 (KJV)
Jesus said to Peter: “when you are converted, strengthen others. The proof that you are converted is not just in being saved but in deploying your gifts to strengthen another person.
The word strengthen means to give strength because there are those around you who don’t have the strength you have. It means to make stronger. It means to add value to somebody else. It means to build up. It means to empower. It means to add fuel to fire. It means to buttress and to confirm another person. It means to increase another person. It means invigorating another person. It means to multiply and toughen another person. Now that you are tough because you have been converted, help those who are on the ground. Restore and rejuvenate them. That is what Jesus was saying to Simon.
The church of Jesus Christ is weak today because the converts are missing their assignments. The converted are not at their duty post. The converted are celebrating their mountain-top experience. They are saying: “We have arrived”! They focus on their positions. “I am this. I’ve been in church for ten years. I’ve been in church for twenty years and I am now a Bishop. I am now a Reverend. Why did you call me brother? Don’t you know I am a Deacon? I am a Deaconess, why did you call me Sister? I am now in charge of this position and all that.”
Child of God, the converted does not think about the position, he thinks about impact. I’ve stopped long profile of introduction in places where I’ve been invited in the past because all the accolades mean nothing to me. We must come down from our high horses and identify with the needs of the people. That is where the battle is. The battle is in the valley. It is in the valley that we make an impact. The weak ones who need to be strengthened are in the valley. Let’s go there to help them.
