STOP RUNNING FROM GOD
“And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.” Genesis 3:8 (KJV)
Man was made in the image of God. And according to the book of Genesis 1:28: “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”
Adam understood that he has been empowered to succeed. And so with this understanding of his identity and relationship with God, he was able to take charge over what God has created. Not only was Adam in charge, but he also had a robust fellowship with God. The problem started when his identity was rattled by the devil.
The moment Adam’s identity was rattled, he began to hide from the LORD God among the trees. You see, when the presence of God is no longer with you, then, you can never achieve anything. When God’s presence is no longer with you, there is nothing you can accomplish. “And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.” (Genesis 3:9-10 KJV)
When your standing before God has been rattled, what happened is that you start running from the very source that has the capacity to deliver you. You start running from the very source that sets free. You start running from the very source that lifts up. You start running from the very source that will make you overcome the challenges of life. And that is what the devil has done to mankind. He has gone on rampage, making people doubt the goodness of God, the mercy of God, and the grace of God. And presenting God as one who does not love humanity. That is not true. God is love. He is always showing Himself favorably disposed to dispense only good to us. He is favorably disposed to bless. He is favorably disposed to lift up, to elevate and to strengthen. That is the God we serve.
