STAY FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST

STAY FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST

“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit”. Ephesians 5:18

The assignment of the Holy Spirit is to guide you into all truths and show you things to come. If you have received Jesus as your Lord and saviour, you are a child of God and you have the Holy Spirit. And if you are baptized in the Holy Ghost and you speak in tongues, you have a better advantage. The Bible says the Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth and he will show you things to come. But how can we activate him? How do I get him to guide and direct me? Let us look at the scriptures.

17“Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. 18: And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;” (Ephesians 5:17-18)
The original translation says being filled with the spirit. That means it is a continuous process. It is in the present continuous tense. In other words, it is not a one off incident. There is a connection between being filled with the Spirit and knowing what the will of the Lord is.

How do you get filled?  Verses 19 and 20 of chapter 5 of the book of Ephesians say:
“Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20: Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;”

Giving thanks to God and speaking spiritual songs. Where are the spiritual songs you may ask? The psalms are there in the Bible. If you speak them, it is acceptable. Open the bible and read the Psalms and begin to speak them to yourself.  “As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people……The righteous shall be like mount Zion that cannot be moved. The rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous……”(Psalm 125:1-3)
This one way a believer can stay filled with the Holy Ghost.
