SALVATION IS FOR “WHOSOEVER”
”For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 (KJV)
John 3:16 (KJV)
When God looked at the helplessness of man and decided to intervene, He did not intervene for a select few. While God has made us free moral agents, able and capable to take decisions, He also gave man the freedom to make that decision.
Look at that scripture again, it is not for a specific person or group of people, the only qualification to receiving the love of God is to accept the sacrifice of Jesus. However, because man has got used to doing things, this salvation, so free, has become difficult for man to accept. Man wants to do something so he can be justified, but God is saying, I have done it all, come to the table and eat. That is what we all struggle about.
Each time I speak on the grace of God, I hear questions like: does that mean I have no part to play? Beloved, the truth is that you have no part to play in your salvation. Jesus paid it all. Your part is to believe and accept this finished work. Don’t try paying the price again, it is already fully paid for. But God expects you to reciprocate His love for Him by loving Him in return. When you truly love God, you will talk about Him unashamedly everywhere you go. When you love Him, you will be His true representative wherever you find yourself. When you truly love Him, you will give freely to Him and to His work.
Salvation has been paid for, it is for whosoever to fill in his or her name there and follow the Lord. Have you done that? If yes, congratulations. But if no, there is an opportunity for you today. You don’t have to wait till Sunday, right where you are, simply confess Him as your Lord and Saviour, acknowledge the price He paid and accept Him into your life. That is all He expects of you and as your yield to Him, He will take over your life and live through you.
