RETRACE YOUR STEPS
‘’And when he came to himself, he said, how many hired servants of my father have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee…’’ Luke 15: 7-8
There is not one believer who fell into sin and came back to God that God rejects. The only condition He will not accept you is if you will not come back to Him. Perhaps you are wondering today if God will truly accept you back. I want to remind you of the story of the prodigal son who, despite his offence, was accepted back by his father. Jesus told his disciples that story just to tell you that there is hope for a believer who falls. All you need to do is find your way back to Christ, repent of your sin and embrace the righteousness freely given by God.
This is not a license to sin but rather an assurance that you can overcome sin. If you are struggling with sin today, ask the Holy Spirit for help. When you do wrong, the Holy Spirit convicts you of righteousness. He reminds you of who you are in Christ Jesus and the righteousness that has been made available for you. Come to yourself today. Awake to righteousness, stop slipping off. Tell yourself you are better than that sin and come back to God. You will be surprised at how God will welcome you with open arms. It is the devil that wants you to continue in sin. He shows you the attraction of sin so that you can snub God’s love for you. It was love that made God tell Adam not to touch the tree of good and evil. They ate of their own free will from the tree and disobeyed God.
In-spite of the sin of Adam and Eve, God still went out of His way to set in motion the plan of salvation. He decided to come down and save His man by wrapping Himself in humanity. What a demonstration of love! Child of God, feed on the love of God for you and forget about sin. Awaken to righteousness and expect good things to happen to you every day of your life. I declare that grace will overrule for you in Jesus’ name.
