REST IN THE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST

REST IN THE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST

“And the LORD caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof. And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man”. Genesis 2:21-22. (KJV)

All through the scripture, God has always wanted us to rest. There would have been no Eve if Adam did not rest. God had to put Adam to sleep to produce Eve. The things you need that will give you joy can only come when you rest. God was saying, your helper can come out from within you. He is not coming from outside. And the only way it would come out is by you resting.

As long as Abraham kept on agitating and doubting, Isaac would not come. But at 100 years, when everything rested, Isaac was born. Isaac means laughter. You will laugh again. Your story will not end in anguish. Your story will not end in disgrace. It will end in praise. God called you to rest. He called you to celebrate. He called you to laugh. He didn’t call you to be sad. Whatever has made you sad is leaving you now.

What was it that assured Jacob? According to the book of Genesis chapter 28, Jacob ran away from his brother Esau and he came to the place where he got tired. There was no pillow, but he rested anyhow. And God gave him a powerful revelation. Now I understand why he was able to labour twice for his wife. Despite being cheated, he was relaxed, knowing that it will turn out well. Jacob could have gone back home empty-handed but because he rested, God gave him an unusual revelation which has never happened in the whole world before. His eyes were opened to see what he should do and overnight the whole wealth of Laban was transferred to him. Your ground will produce for you. Wherever you are operating, your ground will answer you. Your eyes shall be opened to see what others don’t see.
