REST IN THE FINISHED WORK OF CALVARY

REST IN THE FINISHED WORK OF CALVARY

Tuesday – August 31

“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.” John 19:30 (KJV)

Man has been blessed by God. All that man will ever need to succeed was completed at the cross; but the devil wants man to be ignorant of it. God wants you to rest and appropriate the finished work of the cross but the devil wants you to always struggle in your life.  That’s what the fall of Adam brought because when man fell, the devil asked, “Has God said?” In other words, “are you sure?” Unfortunately, that is the same trick Satan is still using on the believers today.

After man fell, he went into hiding in the bush. God came as usual to fellowship with man but he became afraid.  Beloved, notice that as soon as man fell, the devil got man where he wanted him: the place where you believe that for you to receive anything, you must do something to qualify. As soon as Adam fell, he asked: “what must I do?  What can I do now so that I can be covered?” Then, he quickly looked for leaves and covered himself but originally, he had been covered by the glory of God.

Everything that God created has coverings by itself. Man was covered by the glory of God because he was made in His image. But the glory left and so he began to do something.  He manufactured something to cover himself but even at that, he could not be covered. It still took God to kill and skin an animal to cover him.  In other words, there is nothing you can do to cover yourself. If God can’t cover you, you cannot be covered.  “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain” (Psalms 127:1 KJV). I therefore challenge you to learn to rest in the finished work of Calvary. Stop ‘doing’ but rest in Him. The price has been paid in full.
