RECEIVE INSTRUCTIONS FROM HIS MOUTH

RECEIVE INSTRUCTIONS FROM HIS MOUTH

“And David enquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail, recover all.” 1Samuel 30:8 (KJV)

One of the things the believer should not take for granted is a quality time of fellowship with God. When you spend time before God, He opens unexpected doors for you and makes a way for you were there seems to be no way. God knows how to manipulate things in your favour because He is God and He shortens time for your sake. He knows how to move things around so as to ensure things go your way. The problem with us is that we do last what we should do first. Let us learn from David.

David was in a precarious situation. His family had been taken captive. He cried! And there is nothing wrong with crying. But When you finish crying, clean your nose, dry your tears, get promises from the Bible and begin good warfare. That was exactly what David did:  David finished crying; then he encouraged himself in the Lord. He remembered the past things God had done for him. He remembered past miracles. He remembered that if God brought him through previous troubles then He will bring him through this also. And then with that encouragement, he called for Abiathar, the Priest who brought the ephod to him. David inquired of the Lord saying; Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them?

He didn’t just take off to go look for his family. He was saying in essence; Lord, give me direction. I don’t want to be involved in something that will not succeed. There is no point just running for running sake. He received instruction from the mouth of God and then proceeded on the road with assurance. Child of God, in this journey of life, don’t just head out. Receive instructions from His mouth. The time you spend with Him is an investment that guarantees success. Don’t take it for granted. Learn to live by the proceeding word of God.
