PURSUE GOD FOR WHO HE IS

PURSUE GOD FOR WHO HE IS

“And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,” Luke 5:1 KJV

According to our scriptural text today, the people pressed upon Jesus to hear the word of God. They were not pressing to see miracles. The reason many believers are being deceived today is that they are pursuing God for miracles and not for who He is. There is much more than He has done for you. Stop pursuing Him for things. It is an insult to pursue Him for things. Hear what the Word says: “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” Romans 8:32 KJV.

Beloved, the thing you are pursuing is a free gift, freely given to us. And you are busy pursuing things, changing from one church to the other. ‘It is not working here, so let me go there. Oh sister; you have been long in this thing; look, heaven helps those who help themselves.’ (But that is also not in the Bible). ‘Let me take you to another place.’

In the account recorded in Luke 5:1-6, the supernatural took place in Peter’s fishing business because Peter heard the Word. He said: I have toiled all night with my expertise, with my right tools; fishing at the right time and with the right partners but caught nothing. “Nevertheless at thy Word, I will let down the net”. (Luke 5:5 KJV). And when he did, he caught a net breaking and boat sinking multitude of fishes. The supernatural naturally followed. The supernatural was there waiting for somebody to obey when the Word was preached. Now, look at what happened in Luke 5:15: “But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.” (KJV) Hearing and healing go hand in hand. Hearing and miracles go hand in hand. The people came to hear and to be healed.
