ONLY GOD CAN KEEP YOU COVERED

ONLY GOD CAN KEEP YOU COVERED

“He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.” (1 Samuel 2:9 KJV)

In the book of 2 Samuel 11, David rather than go to war, saw Beersheba having her bath and he got enticed. And using his influence, he slept with her and she got pregnant. Consequently, he tried to cover it up. But every effort he made to cover it up pushed him into more trouble. You see why man’s effort fails every time he tries to do something? If God does not cover you, you can’t be covered. That is why you need grace. I like to say to all those who think that they can be saved by their performance and effort, you can never make yourself clean. It is God himself that makes you clean. He chooses to make you clean, not because you are clean. The best of men is still man. There is no effort you can make that can amount to anything of value before God. It has to pass through Jesus before the Lord can see it as pure.

David tried to cover up his sins but the thing refused to be covered, and so he orchestrated the death of Uriah. One of the problems with believers today is that we want to say it is our connection, our pedigree or certificate that made us successful. But God says no, I want to take all the glory. Give me the glory for whatever is happening in your life. What do you have? Even that connection, he gave it to you. The bible records that he is the one that gave seed to the sower and bread to the eater. So the farmer doesn’t really do anything. The farmer plants seeds but unless God tells it to grow, it won’t grow. So he doesn’t only give you the seed, he also gave you the bread, so that the glory will go to him. So that if you are dealing with him, you don’t do it out of stinginess but out of abundance mentality, knowing that he gave it to you. God is not a God of shortage or scarcity. He has everything in abundance. Everything about you is covered; your past, present and future.
