ON WHO IS YOUR FAITH LEANING?

ON WHO IS YOUR FAITH LEANING?

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)

I know you are a believer. I know you are ready for heaven. But when it comes to the manifestation of the promises or you prayed and you are expecting something to happen, on who is your faith leaning on? Who are you trusting? Who are you believing? Who are you looking up to? That is the issue! That is where the rubber meets the road. You will be shocked that a lot of believers depend on themselves. Let us see an example in the scriptures so that you can understand.

According to Jesus: “Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.” (Luke 18:10 KJV). They had needs which they wanted God to intervene on their behalf. They both desired that God should do something for them. One was a Pharisee or somebody you can call a believer who is saved and the other one was a publican. A raw sinner! “The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.” (Luke 18:11-12 KJV).

Notice what this man who came to God for help was doing. He began to reel out his credentials. I did this! God, I want you to understand the price I already paid. I fast! I pray! I gave! I also visited! I went on witnessing! I always attend meetings! I did all that and I am not like other people. If anyone is to qualify, it must be me.

Beloved, you cannot receive from God when your request is predicated on what you have done or on your qualifications. We must lean totally on the finished works of Christ. That is what qualifies us to receive from God.
