LEARN TO HANG AROUND JESUS.
“And when he had called unto [him] his twelve disciples, he gave them power [against] unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease”.
Matthew 10:1 KJV
God is your life source. You cannot get life from any other source but God. As long as you receive your sustenance from God, walking in the spirit will become a natural phenomenon. It will not be a struggle. Everything you do will become in the spirit. From our text, Jesus wanted to give His disciples power. The first thing He did was that He called them to Himself. Power was not the first thing; rather, He called them to Himself. You may have forgotten who you are but when you hang around Him, you will discover your true image.
We understand natural things, however most times we fail to apply it to spiritual things. Do you know that when you start hanging around somebody, pretty soon you will pick their language and their mannerism? When you are far from God, how can you function in the spirit? Society compounds it further by bringing all kinds of things to keep us away from maintaining a constant connection with God. We are involved in things that will not help us. We are always too busy. Have you not read what David said: “except the Lord build a house they labor in vain that build it” (Psalm 127:1).
You want to start a business; the first thing that comes to mind is to have some money, then travel to China to buy goods to re-sell. However, you didn’t go to Jehovah to ask Him: “What can I buy?” There is also the struggle to preach because you are only looking for messages to preach when you should look first to be blessed yourself, knowing that a message that does not bless or inspire you cannot bless others. Jesus called them to Himself. “Let’s have dinner together so that you will see how I function.” When you hang around Jesus enough, you will discover your true self and receive power to function.
