LAY HOLD ON THE MERCY OF GOD

LAY HOLD ON THE MERCY OF GOD

“It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD;” 2 Chronicles 5: 13 (KJV)

The Saint of old understood the mercy of God. In the scriptures, anytime God’s people wanted to do something mighty or great like during the dedication of the temple or when they are bringing back the Ark to the temple, do you know the song they always sing? “The Lord is good and His mercies endureth forever.” Why that song? I have always asked myself that question. They sang it because each time they do; something explodes in the realm of the spirit. When we lay hold on to the mercy of God, something will explode in our lives.

Our text says that when they sang saying that the Lord is good and His mercy endured forever that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD. So that the priests could not stand to minister by the reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God (2 Chronicle 5:13). Just like I know right now that the power of God is reaching you wherever you are reading this. God is not limited by distance or space. God is not limited by the electronic media or device through which you are reading this. The power of God is right there with you wherever you are, and miracles are taking place right now.

During the dedication of the temple by Solomon, a similar thing happened. The bible says, “Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house. Verses 2,3 And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD’S house. And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever” (2Chronicles 7:1-3). The mercy of God is associated with the supernatural display of the power of God at work in our lives. That is why you must lay hold on to the mercy of God now and be blessed.
