LAY HOLD ON GOD’S PROMISES

LAY HOLD ON GOD’S PROMISES

“By which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:4 NKJV

The scripture says in Psalm 82:6 that we are gods. However, for us to live like gods on this earth we must fill our hearts with the promises of God. The dictionary defines a promise as ‘a word of honour, vow, commitment, pledge, and assurance.’ Therefore, the promises of God are His commitments to us. It is information on what God has already perfected. Through His promises, we know and are assured of the victory that God has already ordained for our lives. We have this assurance because God cannot lie.

Numbers 23:19 says that “God is not a man that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent; hath he said, and shall he not do it or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”

When God made a promise to bless Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself. Hebrews 6:15 tells us about Abraham, saying “And so after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.”

When you have an understanding of who this God is, and you have the promise of God concerning a particular area, it changes everything. You will go to bed. That’s why David declared boldly in Psalm 23:4 that “though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art  with me.”(KJV) The promise of God gives you boldness, confidence and the holy audacity to stare situations in the face and declare boldly that: ‘This too shall pass’. The promises of God give us access to His divine nature. And as a partaker of His divine nature, anything that cannot be found in God, should not be found in you. However, to partake, you must know what the Bible says. This is why we emphasize the importance of studying the Word of God.
