KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS

KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS

Dearly Beloved, I bring you greetings in the name that is above every other name, Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God and our soon coming King. Today, I want to implore you to Look Unto Jesus. Jesus is our victory, He is our wisdom, He is our peace, He is everything to us. He alone guarantees us victory at all times. Peter was a man who accomplished what was humanly impossible, because His eyes were fixed on Jesus.

“So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”” Matthew 14:29-30 (NKJV)

Our text is a very familiar passage of the scripture. Here, Jesus had just fed the five thousand, and so He sent His disciples ahead of Him on the boat to cross over to the other side, while he stayed back to pray. Midway into the disciples journey, there was a terrible wind that hit the sea, and the waves intensified. Right there and then, the bible tells us that Jesus went out to meet them, walking on water. Child of God, one thing you must learn to do when you are reading the scriptures is to pay attention to the details, don’t rush over them, otherwise you will miss the full import. At that particular time, in the midst of their challenge, Jesus showed up. And we know from the scriptures that He will never leave you nor forsake you, so how dare you think you are alone? Beloved, He is right there with you, He is there to help you, He is there to show you the way. God is with you and He is for you. Hallelujah!

The next thing that happened is the disciples saw a man walking on water, and they became afraid, because I mean humanly speaking, it was completely impossible to walk on water, but thank God we serve a God that has no limitations. Jesus announced Himself to them and told them not to be afraid. Out of the blues, Peter said to Him, if indeed it is you, command me to come and He said to him ‘Come’. And before anyone knew what was happening, Peter walked on water, to meet Jesus. Peter did the impossible, because He was focused on the Master.

The bible tells us that the moment Peter took his eyes off of Jesus, and saw the boisterous wind, the difficulties, the oppositions he was faced with, he became afraid and began to sink. As long as Peter’s eyes were on Jesus, he accomplished the impossible, but the moment he took his eyes off, fear set in, and he started to drown underneath something he had already overcome. Thank God for Jesus, He reached out to him and saved him. Defeat comes when you look down, distractions come when you look around, disappointment comes when you look back, but victory comes when you look up.

Child of God, keep your eyes on Jesus. In this day and age, if you don’t have Jesus, you are finished. The scriptures say looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Do you know why He is the author? Because Jesus is the Word, and faith comes from the Word of God, and so He is the reason why you have faith in the first place, it was at His command, that Peter was able to walk on water. But in order for the faith to produce results, your eyes must be fixed on Him. Challenges and oppositions will surely come, but when you are focused on Victory Himself, then you are sure that your victory is guaranteed because Jehovah has spoken.

Beloved, the only way we can fix our eyes on Jesus is to stay in the Word. Make the Word of God your priority, attend Tuesday services, Sunday services so that you can grow in the knowledge of God’s Word and as you do, grace and peace will be multiplied unto you. I bless you in Jesus’ name, Amen.

 Maranatha!

Yours in His Royal Service
