JESUS IS THE ASSURANCE OF ETERNAL SALVATION
“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
1 John 5:12, 13 KJV
One of the fears of people is the day of death. You see some people crying and frustrated when they are sick. More often than not, their problem is “where am I going?” They don’t have security. They are hoping that when they close their eyes to this world and open it again, some religion would take them to one place and somebody would pray for them so that they would get to Heaven. Wrong! The only time you have to make a decision about Jesus is while you have your senses and you are alive. Your choice is still at work now. Once you close your eyes in death, you can never make that decision again.
How tragic will it be for you to close your eyes and find out you messed up your life, when you could have simply received Jesus into your life? What does it cost you? What do you have to lose if you receive Jesus? It will be a tragedy to get to Heaven and find out you missed your opportunity. Jesus gives us security. Every child of God who has received Jesus will tell you without any fear: if the trumpet sounds now, he is ready to go.
Remember what I have often stated that “In Christ”, is a post resurrection work. When you are in him there is no sin. He that has the Son has life. If you don’t have him, you don’t have life. I am “In Christ”! That is why I can face death without fear. When I close my eyes and fail to open it, don’t ever shed one tear for me because I’m going to a better place than yourself. I am sorry for those who don’t know Christ and are living in fear; no assurance and no confidence. Paul writes “If only in this world we have hope, we are of all men most miserable (1 Corinthians 15:19). Receive Jesus today. Jesus is your assurance of eternal salvation.
