IT’S TIME FORE STOCK TAKING
For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
Luke 14:28 (KJV)
Today is traditionally called Boxing Day – people spend this day in various ways. Many people because of the partying and visiting yesterday, want to take out time to rest. If you are in that category, it is also an incredible opportunity to take stock of the year. However, if today is also a very busy day for you, no problem, carve out time during the day, sit all by yourself and take stock. Stock taking is a very important activity and I recommend you do it quarterly so that you stay accountable to your goals.
One of the errors of believers today is being unaccountable. We think God wastes resources and we just live anyhow but expect God’s blessings. No! It does not work like that. God is not prodigal with His blessings and because you are like Him, He does not expect you to be wasteful.
One of the key areas of waste is how we manage our time. The question you should ask yourself is: “what have you done with the time God has given to you? How many lives have been touched and transformed?” God was not idle or looking for a way to waste time when He made you. You were in His plan even before time began and He has a purpose for your life. You are not a creature of a man and woman coming together. No! They were only vehicles; God planned your existence. So, what have you done for Him this year?
No matter the score you get, go a step further and plan for the coming year. Set goals for yourself in every area and ensure that those goals are measurable and then set time for them. If you can take time to do this (you do not have to finish it in one day), you will discover that 2020 will be a better year for you. God wants you to prosper and you can do it; simply plan. But don’t just plan in your head, take a book, write down those goals, set time lines and quarterly, review your goals, you will be amazed at what you have achieved.
