I LOVE MY MASTER

“And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free: then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl; and he shall serve him for ever.” Exodus 21:5-6 (KJV)

When you truly understand Grace, you will realise that it is not a license to sin; rather, Grace empowers you to live above sin out of love for the One who first loved you, not out of compulsion or legislation.

Look at the scripture for today. The servant had a right to go, but rather than leave, he freely opts to stay. The servant was willing to do whatever it would take to express his love for his Master. It was a choice he made. The servant was saying, in essence, “Where am I going? I love my Master! Where else can I find life? I have found life in the home of my Master I am going to serve forever! I am ready to do whatever it takes. The same thing applies to a believer who understands Grace.

You see, God will not police you to know how you will live your life. You will make your own choices. However, when you love your Master, you will not live a double life. When you truly love the Master, it will cause you to avoid some company that will bring dishonour to Him and the Kingdom.

I love my Master! Living a holy life is proof that you love the Master. His love will propel you to honour and respect Him. His love will break the hold of sin over you, and you can boldly say sin will not have dominion over me, not because anyone is watching or because there is a punishment, but because you love Him. It is a choice! It is a decision! You are not faking it! You want the entire world to know that you love the Master. So just as the servant submits his ear to be bored through with an awl to show absolute surrender, the believer who understands Grace is proud to stand for God wherever he finds himself.

As you progress in this Year, may your love for God grow with each passing day.
