HUMBLE YOURSELF

“And they found an Egyptian in the field and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat, and they made him drink water, and they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins: and when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him…:” 1 Samuel 30:11-12 (KJV)

David was in distress and cried unto God for help. And God spoke to David:”…Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.” 1 Samuel 30:8 (KJV). David was told to pursue, overtake, and recover all. But he was not told how he would recover all. The revelation was that he would recover all they had lost. The way and manner in which the recovery will be accomplished was not revealed. It was now left for David to humble himself to be able to recognize the pointers that God will give.

Are you humble enough to recognize those pointers in your environment? David humbled himself when he encountered the Egyptian that his master abandoned and left for dead! David humbled himself to attend to the Egyptian’s needs. An arrogant person would have just walked past the Egyptian. An arrogant person would have said: “What concerns me with this slave? I am looking for more important people! What has this guy got to do with it?” But David did what he ought to do as a man of God. He took care of the Egyptians. That is what Christians do. Christians help people. Christians assist people! Christians understand that they are here to impact their world! Christians understand what it means to stoop to conquer.

Humble yourself! David was humble enough to take care of that man, and the man on his own told him the strategy to recover everything he lost. Learn from David; God can use anyone. So, humble yourself. Be open and be sensitive. May God show you the helper He has positioned in your journey to recover all in Jesus’ name.
