HEAR IT AGAIN
“Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:” Matthew 11:4 KJV
It is so unfortunate that success is being wrongly defined and a lot of people are getting confused. What do you call success? Success is not about what you have. Success is simply being all that God has ordained you to be. When people are developing hypertension, getting stressed up, committing suicide and dying before their time, there is something they are carrying which they shouldn’t carry. In the book of Matthew 11:2-3, John the Baptist sent a message to Jesus: “Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?” (Matthew 11:2-3 KJV).
The question is: Why the sudden confusion? Herod had arrested John the Baptist and it looked as if God was watching, doing nothing. And here was Jesus going all over the place and acquiring fame while he, John languished in prison. Pressure, complexity and complications had come. Thus, John suddenly became confused about Christ. This can happen to anyone if we are not careful. So, you must understand the fact that going through challenges does not mean that God has failed.
In the heat of the battle, John had forgotten the testimonies that he gave that put him on a superior platform. This was the same John who baptized Jesus, saw the heavens open, saw the dove appear and heard God proclaim: “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased”.
(Matthew 3:17 NKJV). In the heat of challenges, John forgot all these.
The fact that you are going through severe challenges does not mean that you have ceased to be successful. Look at the response of Jesus to the disciples of John: “Go and show John again.” In other words, he used to understand those things he used to hear and see. You need to always remind yourself of those truths which you used to understand before. It will keep you focused.
