GREAT ARE THE MERCIES OF GOD

GREAT ARE THE MERCIES OF GOD

“And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great are his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.” 1 Chronicles 21:13 (KJV)

David was a king that enjoyed God’s Mercy tremendously. No wonder he wrote in Psalm 23:6: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” (KJV)

In the course of the reign of David, he made a mess by numbering his troops. God had given him victory upon victory. With or without troops God can win any battle. God can win with one or with twenty. If God is present, that is all you need. You see, we must be very careful in our times of success. When you are succeeding, temptations will come. And they come in diverse ways. The enemy tempted David and he began to count, forgetting that all his success came from God.

“And God was displeased with this thing; therefore, he smote Israel.” (1 Chronicles 21:7 KJV)

Then David said to God: “I have sinned greatly….:” God responded by sending Gad unto David to make a choice.  Either three years’ famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me. (1 Chronicles 21:12 KJV)

Then David said I will rather fall into the hand of God. I won’t fall into the hands of man. May you never fall into the hands of man. May you never fall into the hands of your adversaries. David made a wise choice to fall into the hands of God because he knew that the Mercies of God are great.

Yes, you have messed up, but Mercy will help you. Mercy will change the situation. Mercy will lift you. Mercy will turn your situation around. For great is His Mercies!
