GOD LOVES YOU

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 (KJV)

When the Bible talks about the love of God, it is not a love that is dependent on anything you have or would have. It is a pure, totally unconditional love. Look at that scripture again; it did not say God so loved the believers or His children, but He so loved the WORLD – God loves everyone irrespective of who they are.

The difference between you and the unbeliever is not the love of God for you, but your response to the love. God’s love for mankind is all embracing. He loved you so much that He gave His only begotten Son. God knew that the wages of sin is death. He knew that man was doomed to die the moment Adam disobeyed in the Garden of Eden. There was no way out for man; the death sentence had been pronounced and man had walked into it. Immediately man fell, God’s redemption plan kicked in. At first, he slaughtered an animal and covered Adam and Eve; and throughout the Old Testament, we see massive slaughtering for sacrifice. But God knew that the blood of bulls and goats could cover but could never cleanse man of sin; the wages of sin is death. For the price to be paid, someone, who was totally sinless had to come, go through everything you and I would ever go through, endure every pain and affliction and then take our place on the cross and that is what Jesus did.

I am glad you have responded positively to His love by accepting Him into your life as your personal Lord and Saviour but in this season that we are celebrating His birth, I challenge you to go out there and tell someone about His love. Spread the good news; let us depopulate hell and populate heaven. Do not just visit friends and exchange gifts, let the love of Christ flow from you to the world around you – that is the reason for this season.
