GOD LOVES YOU
“In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” I John 4:9-10 (NKJV)
Stop trying to love God without first understanding how much He loves you. You can’t love God without understanding 1 John 4:10. This verse says: “…this is love…” In other words, let me define love for you. The scripture says: “…not that we loved God…”. What comes first is not for you to love God. No! Instead, you know that He loves us and sent His son to be the propitiation for our sins. That is love right there!
Then scriptures further declare: “Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.” (I John 4:11-12 NKJV). We respond to God’s love by loving Him. And this love is not passive. It is active. “Jesus went on to say, ‘If you love me, do what I have told you to do.” (John 14:15 EASY)
If you say you love Him, let your life please Him. That is the proof of your love. Not the one that someone will be chasing after you. If you are still waiting to be chased after, then you don’t love. And you don’t understand how much He loves you. If you truly understand how much He loves you, you will go to any length for Him. When you understand His love for you, you will choose to love Him and serve Him with all that you have.
Only a changed heart can be able to live for God. Your heart is changed as you receive the love of God. The more you see how much God loves you, the more you want to live for Him. No compulsion! You just want to do what is pleasing to Him.
