GOD IS GRACIOUS AND MERCIFUL

GOD IS GRACIOUS AND MERCIFUL

“And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore, I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.” Jonah 4:2. (KJV)

The Lord sent Jonah to go and preach to Nineveh because He was upset with what they had done. Jonah knew the voice of God, however, he took off and ran away to Tarshish. He boarded a ship! And on the sea, the ship ran into a storm because of him. Eventually, they were able to zero in on Jonah that he was running from God. He was thrown overboard, and he ended up in a fish’s belly. Right in the belly of the fish, Jonah now began to look up to God. “They looked unto him, and were lightened, and their faces were not ashamed.” (Psalms 34:5 KJV)

Jonah’s case was hopeless. Even Jonah thought that it was over for him. But thank God for Mercy. The fish vomited Jonah and he went to preach in Nineveh as commanded by the Lord. When Jonah preached, Nineveh repented, and God did not give them what they deserved. Instead, He showed them Mercy. They deserved judgment but He turned it around and showed them Mercy.

The judgement has been packaged but Mercy said no. Why? Our God is so gracious and Merciful? He is rich in Mercy. People always talk about God’s judgment as if that is what makes God who He is. No! God is love and He is rich in Mercy. He is slow to anger! That is what you must connect to! Connect to God’s favorable disposition to dispense good and turn your situations around for good.
