GO ALL OUT TO HONOUR GOD

GO ALL OUT TO HONOUR GOD

“And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.” Genesis 22: 2 (KJV)

When you understand who God is to you, there will be no struggle when it comes to honouring Him or giving Him anything. God said to Abraham, give Me your son, your only son; that one you love. Go to the mountain that I will tell you of and sacrifice your son to Me. Don’t forget Isaac was not a baby. He was about 17 years old, and his father was over 100 years old.

From the story and the commitment of both Abraham and Isaac, Abraham had taught Isaac that whatever God does; he should trust Him. Isaac was tied up. He was willing. He laid down to become the sacrifice, yet without him struggling. These are people who understand that God is committed to them.

When you do not understand this truth in your heart, you will penny-pinch and get stingy when it comes to God. It is not just about money. It involves your service to God, your commitment, and your service. Look at the account again; there was no record of Isaac being forced or coerced. He submitted and earlier on, Abraham in absolute faith in God had said to the servants “abide ye here with the ass; I and the lad will go yonder and worship and come again to you” Gen, 22:5. What gave him that confidence? Abraham knew God and trusted Him completely.

Absolute trust in God always leads to absolute obedience. You can obey without questioning Him because you are fully convinced that He is good and does only good. Abraham’s total obedience triggered another level of blessing in v.15-17, take time to read it. God responded to Abraham’s willingness to honour Him. Decide to go out of your way to honour the Lord always. God honours those who honour Him.
