GIVE YOUR CHILD DIRECTION
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6 KJV)
The scripture says in Psalm 127:4 (KJV)“As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; So are children of the youth.” But you know that an arrow cannot shoot itself. An arrow must be shot by somebody. Until an arrow is shot it cannot hit a target. The owner of an arrow is the one who sharpens it and directs it at the target he wants to hit.
Training up a child in the way he should go, speaks of a two-way responsibility between parents and children. As a child, you are expected to willingly submit yourself to your parents so that they can propel you as a mighty instrument to hit a target. It requires willing submission. In other words, no matter how intelligent or talented you maybe, no matter how much the Lord has invested in you, and no matter the purpose and design He has for you, you may end up not getting to your destination in life, if not properly directed. So, that places the responsibility on you to submit so that you can be properly directed.
Parents, the responsibility is also laid on you to ensure that you do not stifle your children and their giftings, you must prayerfully guide and direct them. Don’t compare your child with another, not even with their siblings, because every individual is unique. You cannot successfully train up your child in the way he or she should go, without staying in prayers. Pray and ask for guidance from the Holy Spirit, so you can properly guide them to the destiny that God has ordained for them.
As a parent, the most important thing you can give to your child is God. One of the Hebrew translations of the sentence “train up a child” says it is not about bending the will but giving the child a taste of what you want him to become. Beloved, the time to start feeding your child with spiritual food is now while he is still a child. And by the time he grows up, he will have become used to it. Don’t wait, start now.
Happy Children’s Day!
