GIVE ATTENTION TO THE WORD OF GOD

GIVE ATTENTION TO THE WORD OF GOD

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings,” Proverbs 4:20 (KJV)

There are many things that people are busy about and yet the most important thing at this period is generally ignored. In Luke 10:38, Jesus went to the house of Mary and Martha and scripture tells us that Martha was busy with a lot of things while ignoring the needful thing. Everything is failing around us; many businesses have shut down and run bankrupt. So many have lost their jobs, some are sick, some are dying, and there are a lot of problems here and there. Where do we turn to receive hope, if not the word of God? When it came to the word of God, Martha was too busy. There are many of us just like Martha, busy about every other thing. But I come to present to you the only therapy that can guarantee you total and complete victory over the forces of darkness – the word of God.

No matter what the enemy brings the word of God is above it. Jesus said to Martha, Mary has chosen one thing that’s needful and it will not be taken away from her. With that one thing, no matter what the enemy brings, Mary will always be on top, Mary will always overcome. Mary will not go under. Why? Because of the one thing that she has chosen!

What is it about the word of God? The bible tells us in today’s text that my son, listen well to my words; tune your ears to my voice. Keep my message in plain view at all times. Concentrate! Learn it by heart! Those who discover these words really live body and soul, they’re bursting with health. Keep vigilant watch over your heart; that’s where life starts. Don’t talk with both sides of your mouth; avoid careless banter, white lies, and gossip. Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all sideshow distractions. Watch your step and the road will stretch out smooth before you. Look neither right nor left; leave evil in the dust.
