FRET NOT: REST IN THE LORD
“Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass”. Psalm 37:7 (KJV)
It takes understanding to walk in the covenant. It takes understanding to deal a deadly blow to the adversary. And it takes understanding to rise above anxiety. In the scriptural passage above, the Holy Spirit is telling us not to look at the wicked as our role models. They may have gone ahead of you and seem to be succeeding but you don’t really know what they are doing. All you see is what is on the surface but you really cannot tell what is inward and so it is wrong to say, “I want to be like him”. If you want to be like him, then you want to do what he is doing. Hear what the Word says: “Trust in the LORD and do good, so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed”. (Psalm 37:3 KJV).
God is the only one that can truly grant your desires. Therefore, your responsibility is to commit your ways unto Him and trust Him to bring them to pass. That is the only thing you are supposed to do and the desires of your heart shall be granted! Again, the scripture says: “Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”(Psalm 37:4 KJV)
So, celebrate who you are in the Lord. Celebrate what He has made you! Celebrate your placement in Him! That should be your main and primary concern. Develop the habit of celebrating what He has said. Rejoice at His Word! Be glad at His Word. This is how to find rest in Him! Beloved, your eyes should be focused on the right thing.
You have been raised with Jesus Christ! Your assignment is to sit with Him there and focus on Him there. The scripture declares: “If ye then be risen with Christ……Set your affections above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 3:1-2 KJV)
