EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED
Beloved, welcome to church! What a joy it is to be in God’s presence on this beautiful Sunday, God is awesome. I am so excited because I know that the Lord will do you good. No one comes before God and leaves the same way; this is why you must come expectant because our God is more than able.
Today, I’ve come to tell you to expect the unexpected. The bible says in Ephesians 3:20 that God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ask or think, so why do you come to God expecting the barest minimum? Beloved there’s absolutely nothing that God cannot do. He can overrule any situation for your sake; just believe God, for blessed are those who believe (Luke 1:45).
2Kings 7:1-2 (NKJV)
“Then Elisha said, “Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord: ‘Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.’”
So an officer on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said, “Look, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” And he said, “In fact, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it.””
In 2Kings 6 from verse 24, we read about how the city of Samaria was plagued by famine. The famine was so severe that the people were eating dove’s droppings. It didn’t stop there, two women decided to kill their sons and have them for lunch, providing us with an accurate description of how intense the famine was. The King found out what happened with the women and sent for Prophet Elisha, because he needed an answer, a solution to their calamity. Our text above, is Prophet Elisha’s response to the King, he gave him a word from the Lord, saying that the situation was going to change overnight. However looking at the crises, humanly speaking, there was absolutely no way what Prophet Isaiah said could happen. I mean the human mind could not even fathom that type of miracle, let alone expect its manifestation. Just that day people were eating their children, so how could everything turn around overnight? That’s why the officer doubted, because, I mean no economic report could produce that type of turn around.
Child of God, it doesn’t have to make sense to the human mind. The earlier you realize that God does not function based on human postulations, the easier it will be for you to believe and receive. Check through the scriptures, God does not function within the confines of human abilities. The Prophet Isaiah tells us that His ways are not our ways, neither are His thoughts our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). How can anyone explain that walking around a wall for seven days and shouting to the Lord caused it to come down? (Joshua 6) I mean science and engineering would have looked for the pillars, and developed several configurations on where to penetrate it and all of that. However, being that it was a wall, it would have been impossible. And even if there was a slim chance that they could figure it out, it would have taken decades and decades to find the solution. Remember that back then, they didn’t have the technology like we have today, so just imagine. But God! This is why when it comes to God, you must learn to expect the unexpected.
Our God is a God of all possibilities, He can do anything and He does it how He wants to do it. This is why I always say to people leave God in His exclusive class. This week, I want you to expect the unexpected (#expecttheunexpected). This is our social media month, and so we must spread the goodnews to the world. Share the # on all your social media platforms, tweet it, share it on facebook, Instagram, whatsapp, whatever social media platform you are on. Expect God to do the unexpected in that situation, because that’s His specialty, He is God.
I pray for you that this week, you will experience the magnificence of God. The Lord will show off His almightiness in your life. I bless you in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Maranatha!
