ENTER INTO YOUR REST
Beloved, it is indeed a joy for me to come your way once again on this beautiful Sunday morning. It is no longer news that there is so much anxiety, uncertainty, and difficulty in our world today, but Jesus tells us in John 16:33 that despite the challenges, we should be of good cheer because He has overcome the world. Therefore we can confidently expect all things, both the good and bad to work out for our good. Jesus has deprived this world of the power to harm you, He has conquered the world for you and me, and this is why you can rest in Him (John 16:33 AMPC).
“But those of us who trust God do enjoy his special place of rest…” – Hebrews 4:3 (EASY)
The entire Hebrews 4 lets us know that God has prepared a place of rest for His children. God never intended for His children to suffer and struggle, but rather to overcome in every area of life. However, in order to get in on this plan, and into this rest, we must believe. We must believe that God is who He says He is, and He is faithful to His Word. The issue of belief is one that a lot of people struggle with because it goes against the grain of the world systems. According to the world, seeing is believing, but in the kingdom of God, believing is seeing.
Our text states very clearly that those who will enjoy this special place of rest, must trust God. I was meditating over this issue of trust, and it occurred to me that we most likely do not understand the integrity of who is at stake here. We are talking about the God of the entire universe, the maker of heaven and earth, the alpha and omega. If we can truly understand who this God is, and His integrity, it will be easier for us to trust. This is why we must continue to pursue intimacy with God, so that we can understand who He is and learn to trust Him.
Child of God, in the midst of the chaos, there is a place of rest for you. Goshen in Exodus 8 was a type of rest. What God has ordained for us is much better than that, but you must trust Him. Remember, God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should repent, once He says it, then it is done (Numbers 23:19).
I declare unto you that this week, the glory of God will be made manifest unto you. Your mouth will testify of the goodness of God in the name of Jesus. I bless you today in Jesus’ name, Amen.
