DON’T SETTLE FOR THE MINIMUM
“If we have found favour with you, please let us have this land as our property instead of giving us land across the Jordan River.” Numbers 32:5 NLT
The Lord said to the children of Israel, “I am taking you to a land that is flowing with milk and honey.” That is an indication of abundant life and overflow.
On their way to the Promised Land, the tribe of Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh said they did not want to cross Jordan into the Promised Land. This was because they saw green grass which they believed was good enough for their cattle. They just saw the mere introduction, the dress rehearsal and they said to Moses: “we are not crossing.” In other words, their zeal died. Their intensity and their commitment was no more. They were satisfied with the minimum.
Do you know that some believers are like that? Why should you be satisfied with the minimum? The truth is that, it is an insult to the finished work of Christ to settle for the minimum. You can start with minimum but you shouldn’t remain there. The path of the just is like a shining light, that shines brighter and brighter unto a perfect day (Proverbs 4:18). I declare that in this journey of faith, you will never stop half way. You will not settle for the minimum.
Moses reminded them that they were supposed to join their brethren to the land flowing with milk and honey which is where they were told to go. He also reminded them that God had said that all of them should fight so they wouldn’t stay here until they conquered the land. They said, “we will cross and will fight with our people but we will still come back here.” That was what they did. Their zeal was gone. When you study those two and half tribes, you will discover that nothing great happened with them. Kings did not come out of them because they didn’t follow through. Don’t stop half way! Follow through into you destiny!
