DON’T MISUSE YOUR MOUTH

DON’T MISUSE YOUR MOUTH

“A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Proverbs 18:20, 21 KJV

As a child of God, the way you write your future is with your mouth. Your weapon of creation is your mouth. And many believers are misusing their mouths.

Your mouth is used for two principal things: eating and speaking. A man’s speech is governed essentially by what he hears. To this end, the Bible teaches us how to control what goes into our hearts. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8 KJV)

The Bible instructs you to think on them because out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Some folks thrive in gossip and they want life. You thrive in lies and you are expecting life. What is a lie? A lie is not when you say to someone you would visit at 5 pm and you show up at 6 pm. No! A lie is when you say anything contrary to what God said concerning your life. When you give a different verdict from the verdict that God has given, irrespective of your circumstance, it is a lie. Can you imagine the type of harvest you will get if you learn to put your mouth to profitable use?

I want to give you a challenge today. In the next three months, refuse to allow anything contrary to the Word to proceed out of your mouth. Stop using your mouth wrongly. God has made us kings. It is a dishonour for kings to use their mouth to speak like people who are living in the gutter. Change the things that are coming out of your mouth concerning your life.
