DECLARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS
“And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.” 1 Kings 18:41 (KJV)
In the book of 1 Kings 17:1, the Bible tells us about Elijah, the servant of God, whose spirit was vexed because of the apostasy and the things he was seeing in the land. He decided, therefore, to stand in for God. So, he confronted Ahab and spoke to him that there will be no rain in the land until he changes his mind. He stood out among others.
After years of famine, the land was dry. When Elijah said: “Go up, eat and drink”, there was no evidence of rain or freshness in the land. The question is, where will Ahab get up and drink from since water was scarce? Elijah spoke out in faith. He didn’t allow the contradicting evidence to determine what he said.
Beloved, you must guide what you say with your mouth irrespective of the situation you find yourself. If you don’t guide what you say with your mouth, don’t blame any person for whatever you get. Death and life are in the power of the tongue.
A child of God must be willing to look at contradicting pieces of evidence and speak what he is expecting. What are your expectations? The things around you might not look as if anything is going to happen. But will that change your confession? Elijah said to Ahab get thee up eat and drink for there is the sound of abundance of rain.” That was a holy audacity. The land was dry, but he stood out among the rest to say I hear the sound of abundance of rain. He didn’t say I hear the sound of an abundance of shower. What are you expecting? The God you are serving can launch you into billionaire status. God can do it. If you are in the arena of possible, then God is not there. God only functions in the arena of the impossible. That is His domain because if it’s possible you don’t need God. Step out in faith and God will help you!
