CHRIST HAS FULFILLED THE CONDITION OF THE LAW
“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.” (Matthew 5:17 KJV)
A born-again believer is a new creature. Believers cannot be condemned by the errors they committed inside Christ because of what Jesus Christ already accomplished on their behalf. Romans 8:1 (KJV) says “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Walking after the Spirit is living according to what Christ has accomplished on the cross on your behalf. It is walking in the knowledge and understanding of what Christ did already on your behalf.
Furthermore, the book of Romans 8:2-3 (KJV) says, “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:” The law was weak to deliver you and set you free from sin. Rather, the law condemned you. The law’s assignment is to condemn you, to kill you, and to make you know that unless you reach out for the Saviour, you have no hope.
The law was never meant to be kept. It was meant for everyone to come under condemnation so that you will know that there is a need for a Saviour and then appreciate the work of Grace even more. It was given so that you will be able to acknowledge the fact that if not for the Grace of God, there is no hope for you.
The reason God condemned sin in the flesh is so “That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Romans 8:4 KJV).
The law made some demands on you, but you couldn’t keep it. So Jesus came to deal with the law so that you can have His righteousness.
