CHOOSE TO BELIEVE

“Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken. So, shall thy seed be.” Romans 4:18 (KJV)

We live in a time when everything is spiraling downwards, and people are asking whether God is still on His throne or if He has gone on vacation. Everywhere you look there is one crisis or another with no solution in sight. And so, people are asking: If God is really on the throne, why are we encountering so many challenges? People are asking: Does God still answer prayers? I have prayed, I have fasted, I have sown seeds and yet nothing is changing. God, where are you? Where are those mighty miracles our fathers told us about?

The book of Romans 4 teaches us about Abraham’s journey of faith even while the odds were stacked against him. God made a promise to Abraham that He will bless Him and Sarah with their child. But at almost 100 years old, it looked impossible. Sarah was way past the childbearing age, and so how can it be? You may be asking the very same questions. Maybe the odds are stacked against you, impossibilities are staring you in the face and you are asking: Can it still happen? Can anything good still come out of this situation? Should I just pack up and quit?

Abraham, against all hopes, believed in hope. He decided to take his attention off his limitation and focus on the One who made the promise. He decided to fix His eyes on the Way-Maker, the Miracle Worker, and the Promise Keeper. Abraham chose to believe in God.

Child of God, it is time to take your eyes off your circumstances and believe God. Yes, I know the situation is staring you in the face and it is screaming. Yes, I know it looks hopeless, but it is time to hope against hope because God can never fail. Refuse to be distracted by what the enemy is trying to show you. Fix your eyes on the Word of God. That’s why it is so important to ensure that you are putting the Word of God into your heart because that’s the only thing that can produce something out of nothing.
