CHOOSE TO BELIEVE GOD

CHOOSE TO BELIEVE GOD

“And he brought him forth abroad, and said, look now, toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness”. Genesis 15:5-6 (KJV)

God appeared unto Abraham after he refused that booty from the king of Sodom. Abraham demonstrated His trust and love for God. He was not ready to do anything outside the will of God. He showed his commitment to God. God now said to Abraham “I am thy shield and thy exceeding great reward”. In other words, God was saying to Abraham if you have me, you have everything. At this time, Abraham and His wife were getting old but what did Abraham do to please God? He simply believed the promise of God that he was going to be a father of many nations and he spoke and acted like it.

How deep is your belief in God? How strong is your faith in Him? How well is your trust and dependency on God Almighty? Is there an alternative to your God? Are you seeing Him as a spare-tyre; someone you can call upon only when you are in trouble? Do you call on Him when you need Him and discard him when things are alright?

Beloved, God is not your spare tire. You must depend on Him absolutely. You must give your heart wholly to Him. You must not have an alternative to believing Him. He must be your one and only Authority. Hebrews 11:6 tells us that God “…. is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Don’t seek God occasionally! Seek Him continually! You will be surprised to know how many people come to church, high-five one another, sing, clap, lift holy hands in worship, and walk away not pleasing God. It doesn’t mean they are not children of God, but they are not pleasing God. It is not everyone, who goes to church that is a friend of God. But you can choose to be one today by believing and obeying His word always. Today I release upon you the grace to believe every word of God.
