CEASE FROM YOUR OWN WORKS

CEASE FROM YOUR OWN WORKS

“For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.” Hebrews 4:10 (KJV)

There is a place of rest for God’s people. It is high time we stopped stressing ourselves, running from pillar to post as if God is a liar. It’s high time you stopped flinging papers and doctor’s reports at every person’s face as if God had lied to you. There is indeed a rest for the people of God. Stop stressing and stop the anxiety. Rest on the finished work of Christ.

It is you who manufactured what you are doing; he did not give you that assignment; you took it on. He did not give it to you. You are the one who refused to sleep. “It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: For so he giveth his beloved sleep.” Psalm 127:2 (KJV). Why are you waking up early in the morning and sitting up late in the night and scratching your head saying: How am I going to settle my bills? How is it going to happen? When you should leave it in the Master’s hands and go to bed.

The scripture in Jeremiah 17:5 says, “Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.” (KJV). You cannot even trust yourself; you are not supposed to because your efforts have limitations. I believe with all my heart that if there were a time, the body of Christ would enter into the rest of God; this is the time. So many things in the world lead to stress and fatigue. You do not need any more stress when you are in Christ. You should use the rest you have received to subdue the stress in the world and not add it to your life. Know that when you enter God’s rest, you have ceased from your works as God did from His own.
