BY HIS STRIPES

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes, we are healed.’ Isaiah 53:5 KJV

Today in history, the spotless Lamb of God was being slain for us. Can you picture it in your mind’s eye as He walked through the streets carrying that heavy cross, His body lacerated and bruised? There is no picture – still or motion, that can adequately convey what transpired on that fateful Friday known today as Good Friday. Some people, as a mark of respect for the price He paid on the cross, abstain from meat. However, all of that affliction of the body cannot in any way compensate for what He did on the cross. However, rather than sorrow or be sober for the price He paid, we should rather rejoice and be glad that He paid the price so that we may be free and then passionately go out there and tell the good news to everyone who cares to hear.

Can you imagine what would have happened to you if He did not come? Can you imagine how many animals you would have sacrificed on a daily basis to atone for your sins? Can you imagine the price you would have to pay to cover your sin? Remember, the blood of animals could not wash away the sins, it only covered it and it did not cover forever, that is why the sacrifice was carried out over and over again. But thank God Jesus came.

He paid the price once and for all and presented His blood as an atonement that speaks not only for a moment, but speaks eternally, so that your past, present and future sins are all forgiven (Halleluyah). That is what His love has done. His stripes heal you of sin and all the consequences of sin. So the devil has no right to afflict your body.

As we celebrate Good Friday today, share His love with someone. Appropriate it in your life. Refuse any lie of the devil and take everything that Jesus made available to you. It is your right.
