BREAK FREE FROM NEGATIVE EMOTION

BREAK FREE FROM NEGATIVE EMOTION

“…. but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.” 1 Samuel 30:6 (KJV)

I feel compelled to challenge you to break free from negative emotions. Understand that life is never one sided; just like a positive terminal on its own can never produce power, the same with life; you need the positive and the negative to come together to produce power. You have a duty to learn to manage the seasons of negativity so that power can be generated from it.

Your emotion is God-given, but it is within your control, and your emotion goes where your thought goes. So consciously think about what you are thinking about; because your thoughts will produce after its kind. In other words, be conscious of your thoughts. If your thoughts are negative, it will drive you far away from the destiny God has in store for you because as a man thinketh in His heart, so he is (Prov. 23:7).

David had seemingly lost everything he ever had to the Amalekites. Not only had he lost his wives, children, animals, as bad as that was, he had also lost the trust of his men to the extent that they thought of stoning him. What could be worse? David did not sit on the floor to wail and wallow in self-pity. Yes, he cried; but he did not stop at crying. It is okay to cry, it is a display of emotion, but after crying, wipe your face and like David, seek the Lord. Though distressed, David sought the Lord, and guess the result, he recovered everything that the enemy stole from him.

You might not have encountered any negative event yet. Don’t throw this word away, because sometimes in life, some things not too palatable will happen. When they do, remember these words and encourage yourself in the Lord. You may be in the middle of negative situations right now and you are about throwing in the towel. I challenge you to hold on, encourage yourself in the Lord and like David, you will surely recover all.
